Stop complaining about homework and get ready for real life, kids!
Homework should be abolished? Does that mean when you students get out in the working world, all work-related take-home projects and such should be outlawed too? Yeah, most students in America have it so damn tough. Thousands spent on free education for YOU with working adults tax-dollars over 12 years time and the biggest complaint is homework? No wonder America is academically behind the Asians (i.e. Indians, Chinese, Japanese) when it comes to post-graduation job and college preparation. True, it's been shown that homework doesn't really reenforce ideas taught in the classroom, but IT DOES reenforce the importance of personal responsibility, accountability and work ethic. All of which Americans sorely lack and are rarely taught as a whole. Oh, gosh, stress! What is it going to be like after high school? Life is stressful, get ready for it! Oh, and it's all the teachers fault, yep play the "victim card", too. Obesity is caused by eating too much and not burning it off, not homework.

The problem with homework...
If you step into any school today and ask teachers about cheating most will probably tell you that it has become a huge problem. I think homework is good to practice what you have learned, but thats it because MOST kids cheat their way through homework. I will even admit probably 45% of my grades are cheated simply because I dont have the time to do it. I have a job and a life. There will always be stress it just depends on how you handle it. Yeah and Im pretty sure Ill be paying for education for your kids when I turn 18 and trust me they will complain too. If you think homework is the basis of an education you are WRONG. It isnt something that is an important topic itll always be that way! just like the taxes that you bitch about. I am also proud of the fact that i do not rationalize mistakes Ive made I actually take responsibility for them. In conclusion the only problem with homework would be all the oppurtunities of cheating that it gives. Thank you

This is the place for debate with an added element of friendly competition. This is a debating and essay resource and practice tool, not a debating society or club. There are no complicated rules, but these debates have structure. Each debate consists of a topic with two opposing views.

These are short essays limited to about 150-165 words. Present your strongest argument the first time, since you can't go back to change it--as with the National Forensic League and other speech and debate formats. Read these debates, then vote for your favorite arguments.

These debates are fun, informative and give exposure to all sides of the issues. Most debates will be archived (arguments that are obscene or offensive may be deleted). The better and more interesting debates will be featured.
