Boxing Shouldn't be Banned!
Boxing Shouldn't be banned as a sport because the people that compete in such matches know that they will be hurt one way or another.

Boxing was createdd as a leagal way for people to fight eachother without pulling knives and killing eachother. It then evolved into a sport around the 1900's and still wasn't that violent.

We've all seen Rocky, and we all know that in championship machtes that they make you sign agreements stating that only you and yourself are responsible for the injuries you may suffer.

And when Mr.T does the mega-knockout on Rocky's friend, Mr.T is doing steroids.

Most of the people who get 1 hit K.O.'s had their trainers put steroids in the water before or during matches.

If you want to be sure people aren't using steroids, then provide water for the boxer and don't let the coach refill the bottle. Put a water fountain near the arena so that refills can't be juked.

So if boxing is banned, then people will go back to good ol' street fights.

Analysis
Some of the hate towards boxing seems to stem from the false logic of ‘fighting is bad, boxing is fighting, and therefore boxing is bad’ which is complete nonsense. This same thought pattern could be applied to nearly any circumstance to support nearly any point which can be made. The fact is: fighting is bad when it is inspired by irrational emotion, or unjustifiable action. The form of fighting in boxing is that of self-betterment or showcasing of one’s hard work in the gym. The fight is only the peak of that mountain of work and effort, and that is where the pacifists are at fault; in the sense that they fail to understand that a love of boxing cannot be broken down into a love of fighting and war, but that it itself is the smallest part of the whole. There are aspects which can be admired, but anyone who attempts to be a boxer for love of pummeling another person will never be the best because boxing the sport is not the same as boxing, the action.

This is the place for debate with an added element of friendly competition. This is a debating and essay resource and practice tool, not a debating society or club. There are no complicated rules, but these debates have structure. Each debate consists of a topic with two opposing views.

These are short essays limited to about 150-165 words. Present your strongest argument the first time, since you can't go back to change it--as with the National Forensic League and other speech and debate formats. Read these debates, then vote for your favorite arguments.

These debates are fun, informative and give exposure to all sides of the issues. Most debates will be archived (arguments that are obscene or offensive may be deleted). The better and more interesting debates will be featured.
