If it's broken, fix it don't throw it away!

If your complaint is that you arn't learning the right material, your mission should be to reform the curriculm, not shorten school hours.
Firstly you don't want you or your countrymen to be seen as educationally deferior to other countries graduates, leaving big businesses in your country to recruit from overseas, but that's not the real issue.
School, as you rightly point out, should prepare you for work, shortening the hours wont do this as most work place will expect more from you than your school does.
If you feel passionatly that your curiculm is not meeting the needs of modern children, campaign your local politions about it, do something constructive. Don't argue for measures that would leave you under-educated, under-employable, and totally unprepared for life.

should school hours be shorter?

I think that school should be from 12:00pm to 2:00pm on Tuesday and Thursday. And no school on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. A lot of the classes we take we will not need in life so what’s the point in taking them e.g R.E, Citizenship (year seven), French (most people don’t use it in their lifetime), History (what is the point in knowing what happened in the past all that really matters is the now), School takes up most of your life The only subjects that help are really Maths, english,
