The terrorists will be around as long as the US military is in Iraq.
The terrorists in Iraq are trying to do two things. Their first goal is to eject American forces. Their second goal is to take control of the strong central government we are planning on building in Iraq. Clearly, the invasion has made Iraq a greater danger to the world, not a lesser one, but the claim that we must stay there "until the job is finished" is in large part motivated by the fact that to leave now would be to concede that the invasion was a foolish mistake. Some claim that American withdrawal will lead to bloodshed and civil war, but what do we call what is happening NOW? With American forces gone, Iraqi insurgents will lose their common motivation and most of their foreign recruits. Different groups will always try to control whatever strong central government is coming into being, but if no such government is created, it will remove one more motivation for violence in Iraq. America should top tinkering and let the Iraqis get to work rebuilding their country.

The terrorists won't be around much longer if we set up a democracy.
Everything you said about what the terrorists' goals are makes me smile. It means that they are scared. They're scared that if we get a stable government and military over in Iraq that it will be harder for them to work. With Iraq as an ally to our cause of destroying terrorism, the terrorists will have one less big place to hide and get supplies. Do you really think that if we just leave that the terrorists will stop attacking us and Europe? This is war whether you like it or not. They want to kill us and I don't think we want that so it would be best to kill them first. To say that they don't want to kill us is just ignorance. Have you heard of the plot on Britain's commercial airplane? Or how about the cell phone thing in America. I'd go into more detail but there's not enough room. The bottom line is, whether we are there or not they will keep coming after us. Do you know why they are happy when democrats get elected? Because they know that democrats won't go after them like repubs
