Boxing is a bad influence
|
Boxing is a very physical sport. Because of this fact there are always going to be some people who watch it.
A lot of those people are going to be young. These people are going to see something that they think is very cool and start to imitate what they have seen. This might be on friends or on random s.
The other way it influences is when young poor people think it's a way to easy cash. This causes them to influence more young people and so the cycle continues.
A lot of people will try to argue that it is only the boxer who is at risk, it's the boxer's decision and that it's less dangerous than things like nascar and we are doomed for the government to ban all sports if we let them ban boxing.
It's not true.
It's not just the boxer's problem.
It's Society's.

Fans who take sports seriously are what's truly bad for society.

Boxing is a bad influence? Well, that contention assumes that sports/sports figures are truly influential! And if that's really the case what exactly does that say about American society? It says our priorities are, perhaps, very, very out-of-whack. Watching two muscle-bound retards beat the hell out of each other and then taking it seriously is sad. Not that most people do but watching these extreme fans live their existences through real athletes is more of a bad influence on children than Holyfield vs. Tyson. Boxers are doing a job that they are good at, and in the same vein as teachers, lawyers, doctors, bankers and so forth. To take that away from them and their ability to make a good living doing it is selfish oppression. Just because your personal interpretation nonsensically dictates boxing negatively impacts society (where's the proof of that, by the way?) doesn't mean it should be stopped/banned? If you actually think boxing hurts you, don't watch it. Read a book instead.
